This role will interact regularly with the Corporate Treasury CFO, Treasurer, and Portfolio Managers and will be seen as a key component of the Treasury team.%26nbsp; This includes reporting requests, identification and escalation of significant or unusual transactions to Corporate Accounting, advising business line management on new products or transactions, as well as assisting with SOX, regulatory exams, and internal and external audits.%26nbsp; The role will have a very heavy emphasis on investments, derivatives, and funding and will interact directly with business unit management and portfolio managers covering these complex areas.%3C/DIV%3E%0A%3CDIV%3E%26nbsp;%3C/DIV%3E%0A%3CDIV%3E%26nbsp;%3C/DIV%3E%0A%3CDIV STYLE=%22font-style: italic; font-weight: bold%22%3EMajor Responsibilities:%3C/DIV%3E%0A%3CDIV%3E%26nbsp;%3C/DIV%3E%0A%3CDIV%3E40%25%20-%26nbsp;%26nbsp; Business Unit Liaison:%26nbsp; Identify significant and unusual accounting and reporting issues within the business units and propose solutions to the Line of Business Controller.%26nbsp; Keep business unit accounting and reporting processes current to meet ongoing and new requirements as mandated by Corporate Controller%26#39;s.%26nbsp; Review and approve all new products and requests for new G/L accounts and RCs prior to them being forwarded to Corporate Controller%26#39;s.%26nbsp; Keep Line of Business Controller advised of emerging risks and other issues that may have accounting and reporting consequences. Work closely with business unit risk managers and business unit finance staff to share information and identify issues.%26nbsp; Review business requirements for new or modified systems which have accounting or financial reporting impacts.%3C/DIV%3E%0A%3CDIV%3E%26nbsp;%3C/DIV%3E%0A%3CDIV%3E15%25%20-%26nbsp;%26nbsp; Month-End Close and Financial Reporting:%26nbsp; Research and provide variance explanations in support of the month-end close.%26nbsp; Discuss results with business unit managers and coordinate the gathering of information for SEC reporting, regulatory reporting, management reporting, and tax filings.%26nbsp; Review and certify SEC reports.%26nbsp;%3C/DIV%3E%0A%3CDIV%3E%26nbsp;%3C/DIV%3E%0A%3CDIV%3E15%25%26nbsp; - Hedge Accounting - work with strategy manager, BUC team and external audit to ensure compliance with hedge accounting rules. Own and maintain hedge documentation and effectiveness testing process. Advise on accounting implications of strategies as appropriate.%3C/DIV%3E%0A%3CDIV%3E%26nbsp;%3C/DIV%3E%0A%3CDIV%3E15%25%20-%26nbsp;%26nbsp; Advisory %26amp; projects: Advise business unit accounting staff on accounting and reporting matters. Interpret Union Bank Accounting Policy Manual %26amp; assist in writing unit specific accounting guidebooks. Keep business unit management advised of significant accounting and reporting issues. Facilitate communications and run projects as required to ensure accurate accounting results.%3C/DIV%3E%0A%3CDIV%3E%26nbsp;%3C/DIV%3E%0A%3CDIV%3E15%Responsible for directly supervising staff, including interviewing, hiring staff and the termination of staff; recommending salary changes, job promotions; setting work hours, conducting counseling /performance reviews, and planning of the staff %27s work. Responsible for ensuring staff comply with all wage and hour regulations.%26nbsp; Provide direction and guidance to staff and resolve questions. Provide training to staff and conduct meeting to inform employees of new developments or work procedures. Establish employee%27s goals and objectives. Create the standards and guidelines, procedures/processes for the department. Recommend methods to improve the efficiency of the staff.%26nbsp;%3C/DIV%3E
