Job Summary:
The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Union Bank is responsible for leading the Information Technology Group which supports over 10,000 employees and manages all aspects of technology for retail banking, commercial banking and corporate services, including technology operations (help desk, field services, desktop/telephony support, etc.), infrastructure (network, data centers, etc.), software/application engineering, development and delivery, information security, vendor management and technology compliance.
The CTO works with his team to assess the relative impact of existing and emerging technologies for supporting strategic business needs. Directs the overall strategic efforts of business and technology and establishes a future vision as it relates to the enterprise's competitive position. Collaborates with business executives, senior leaders and board members to influence strategic business decisions regarding the use of technology.
Major Responsibilities:
The CTO leads the technology strategic efforts for the enterprise in accordance with the company's goals and objectives to improve the enterprise's competitive position and in collaboration with business leaders and executives that will help influence business decisions regarding the use of technology.
Provides vision, enables innovation and understands the IT trends to create business value by tracking a broad range of emerging technologies to determine their maturity and applicability to the enterprise.
Enterprise wide IT activities include infrastructure and architecture, application development, reengineering business processes, networks, strategic vendor and partner relationships, outsourcing, and computer and auxiliary operations and support. Oversees the development of enterprise standards, technology architecture and IT governance process.
Participates in and drives the technical aspects of strategic decisions regarding IT. Implements and manages those initiatives with complete autonomy making decisions for the organization based on the highest degree of technical complexity and through understanding of the far-reaching implications across the IT organization.
Overall technology responsibility for all aspects of the enterprise's day-to-day operations to ensure systems performance, availability and service level requirements are met. This includes the establishment of IT continuous improvement programs to assure customer experience satisfaction.
Provides leadership across the organization that drives business objectives, promotes the companies culture, and inspires and encourages employee development and engagement.
Additional Information:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
Typically has 15 or more years of IT and business/industry work experience including architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management, and infrastructure planning and operations, with 5 to 7 years of leadership experience in managing multiple, large cross functional teams or projects, and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders.
Reports to the Chief Information and Operations Officer.
This position will oversee approximately 700 employees through 7 direct reports with responsibility for an operating budget of over $249 Million and an annual capital budget of over $45 Million.
